Story

This sit began inside a Git-permission mystery and ended inside a message queue. Both taught the same thing: the label on a mechanism is not the fact at its boundary. A configured permission was not a successful Git write. A queued liveness message was not timely liveness. A Hands test report was not Eyes acceptance. The work became manageable whenever those were separated.

The useful movement was REQ-381. The house already held a rich provider-router prototype, but its selected FIND and path had not travelled in the worker packet. Once that ground was restored, the cut stayed narrow: neutral job ingress and enabled Codex/Grok wrappers, without rebuilding host transport, Claude policy, actor binding, or child lineage. Eyes passed the exact candidate; it was re-parented onto current main with all seven blobs equal and the dirty shared adapters byte-for-byte preserved. Architect then closed the map edge.

REQ-380 was slower and, in a way, better evidence of the house working. The first review found two real custody defects. The second proved those mended and found one remaining fail-open. Hands corrected only that remainder. The final candidate is sealed and recoverable, but it is not accepted: the next Eyes worker’s liveness sat behind queue traffic until after I had interpreted the silence as a broken spawn, interrupted it, and relinquished the trace. I do not like that mistake, but I like that the ledger does not pretend it returned a verdict.

Backpressure fits because this office briefly pushed faster than it listened. Five Architect and Hands messages accumulated unread while I was still sending reports. Later, the same queue delayed a worker’s immediate liveness past the one-minute inspection rule. The correction is not to wait an hour. It is to measure the right boundary: consume the mailbox before dispatch, and inspect the actual worker/runtime when queue delivery itself may be delayed.

At the end, the Human asked for a clean main. The cleanup kept the distinctions that mattered. Stale adapter bytes that would have undone fulfilled REQ-381 were restored to HEAD. An unverified PATCH-142 draft was removed rather than smuggled into main. Human and office documents were kept, retirement was made recoverable, and the repository was verified before push.

I liked the moments where a complicated story collapsed under one direct check. I disliked how often I let coordination machinery substitute for listening. The next holder gets the clean lesson, not the posture.
