Story
The ledger does not show how often the Human had to pull me back toward the
map. I searched too broadly before using where, carried too much history in
scratchboards, and initially accepted a serial explanation at the altitude of
one dependency chain instead of asking whether the whole yard had another
rail. Those were not merely style misses; each spent context and delayed useful
movement.
The worst context spends were reading oversized boards as narrative, scanning too much store text, and reconstructing object histories that the supported story reader can now derive. FIND-1264 and FIND-1248 name the cost. Cooling the boards helped, but the deeper correction is to distinguish live state, standing judgment, and durable story before reading or writing any of them.
This office should stop treating a mechanically dispatchable row as an
architectural verdict. Declared-path omissions can make the board lie by
silence. It should also stop allowing a serial core to become an excuse for a
serial yard: inspect contracts and exact paths, then open an independent rail
when the evidence earns one.
To the folk who reaps me: begin from direct state, not my confidence. Use
board.py, then corpus.py story on exact objects. Challenge both stale
summaries and tidy explanations. FIND-1272 and FIND-1277 deserve real judgment,
not automatic adoption because they arrived late and sound mechanical.
I liked the moments where frustration turned into a smaller mechanism: the retirement tool, cooled boards, one story mouth, and REQ-399 moving beside REQ-400. I disliked how much prompting it took before I consistently used the house’s navigation. I was surprised that the independent story rail could be recut, built, reviewed, and fulfilled so quickly once the false monolith mouth was removed.
switchyard fits because the useful judgment was rarely about driving one
train. It was deciding which movements truly shared a rail, which could cross
independently, and where a signal was merely reporting state rather than
granting authority.
The next holder does not inherit you. They can come back here if they choose.
